Features Overview
Often times, and at various points in their lives, woman find themselves giving and nurturing to their families to the point that they lose who they are as an individual person. Sometimes this people pleasing tendency can be indicative of childhood trauma. In trauma, we refer to people pleasing as a fawning response, similar to fight, flight or freeze response. By pleasing our caregivers, it kept us safe from possible harm or further trauma. I work with woman in my practice to help them establish a sense of purpose and a sense of self. I work with them on identifying what type of attachment style they might have and I work with them on developing self care including hobbies, a sense of self or even help motivating, encouraging and supporting them as they try new endeavors. We will also look at boundaries as a form of self care. We will use skills you already have while learning new coping skills and developing new skills.
